Government Scholarships

In principle, the application period is from February 1 to March 31 each year. The actual application period for each local Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be detailed in its publicly available information. Each applicant must lodge their application at the local Taiwan Representative Office in their country of citizenship or at the Taiwan Representative Office in that area of the world that is responsible for looking after matters concerning citizens of the applicant’s country.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)
Countries that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan, or have been recognized as friendly relations with Taiwan by MOFA.
Ministry of Education (MOE)
Countries that are not in the scope of the MOFA scholarships.
Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST)
Countries that are selected from the annually designated countries.

    New International Students in Undergraduate and Master's Degree Programs
    The scholarship is awarded for four consecutive semesters. The scholarship begins in the semester for which the recipient was granted admission and after the recipient has completed registration. The recipient will receive NT$10,000, 30,000 or 50,000 per semester. The scholarship is disbursed in monthly installments after the recipient completes registration for the semester.

    New International Students in Doctoral Degree Programs
    The scholarship is awarded for eight consecutive semesters. The scholarship begins in the semester for which the recipient was granted admission and after the recipient has completed registration. Tuition and miscellaneous fees are waived or reduced as part of the scholarship and the recipient receives a stipend of NT$50,000 per semester. The stipend is disbursed in monthly installments of NT$10,000 after the recipient completes registration for the semester.

    Love for Ukraine Scholarship Program
    After enrollment in the first semester following admission, the duration is limited to 8 semesters for the undergraduate program, 4 semesters for the master’s program, and 6 semesters for the doctoral program. Students will be awarded NT$150,000 per semester, which will be awarded in monthly payments over the five months after registration.
